I went on a daytrip to Milford Sound, which is actually a fjord. They gave it the name before they knew what fjords are.

Sound: A valley carved out by a river or the sea. Fjord: A valley carved out by a glacier = huge icemass that moves!

The landscape is just amazing. The water is half fresh water and half water from the sea. The top is crystal blue because of the fresh water which creates a great view 😉 they have some huge waterfalls close to the water. Of course I went out to have a quick shower when the boat drove under it 😀

I think these glacier valleys and fjords are the most beautiful landscapes you can see in New Zealand and I enjoyed every moment I spend in the Fjordlands!
