Sunday we went to the Waitomo Glowworm Caves and I booked the white water rafting tour “Black Labyrinth”. It was an awesome adventure. First we were put in wetsuits and had a short training for jumping down some waterfalls. The hole trip we had a tube with us and the jump was backwards into the loop. The highest waterfall was maybe 1,5 metres high. Here and there we had to switch off our headlamps and they pulled us through the darkness so we could see the glowworms on the ceiling. It was magical πŸ™‚
The glowworms are shining in a turquoise light and their lives are like that: eating, hatching, eating, going into chrysalis, emerging from chrysalis, reproducing, men: dying / women: laying eggs and dying. Thats their circle of live. If you want to know more, ask Google πŸ™‚

The water in the cave was about 14 degree. Compared to the temperatures in winter with 8-9 degree we could be very lucky πŸ˜€ After the rafting we had a hot shower and a soup. That was good, but I still got a small cold afterwards.

In the evening I spend my night on the camping site and we watched lotr 3 in the common room. Perfect preparation for the next days where we are going to Hobbiton and Mt Doom!!
